The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) has expressed its approval of recent measures taken by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to enhance the security of information related to business aircraft. These changes come in response to growing concerns about the vulnerability of publicly available, personally identifiable aircraft data, which has enabled flight-stalking activities by individuals with various motives. The situation has raised serious concerns regarding passenger security, safety, and corporate espionage.

On March 28, 2025, the FAA announced steps to bolster the security of information concerning aircraft ownership and operations. This follows a 2024 Congressional action that passed bipartisan legislation reauthorizing the FAA and included provisions requiring the agency to take steps to strengthen protections for aircraft ownership information and flight-data. According to Ed Bolen, NBAA President and CEO, "Security is a significant issue for companies of all sizes across the country, which is one of the reasons Congress passed bipartisan legislation requiring the FAA to strengthen protections for aircraft ownership information and flight-data."

The new security measures are part of a broader effort by the NBAA to advocate for enhanced safety and security in the business aviation industry. Founded in 1947 and based in Washington, DC, the NBAA represents over 10,000 company and professional members and provides more than 100 products and services to the business aviation community. One of its key initiatives is the NBAA Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (NBAA-BACE), which is held annually and is considered the world's largest civil aviation trade show.

The NBAA continues to call on government agencies to implement further measures to protect businesses that rely on general aviation aircraft. With an emphasis on security and efficiency, the association remains committed to supporting its members in achieving their business goals through safe and secure air travel.
