The Intersolar South America Conference, scheduled for August 26-28, 2025, at Expo Center Norte in São Paulo, Brazil, is set to address the rapid growth and complex challenges of photovoltaic solar generation in the region. This conference, part of The Smarter E South America series, will explore various aspects of energy generation, storage, and distribution.

Brazil has seen a significant increase in its solar capacity over the past year. According to a report by SolarPower Europe, the country's rooftop solar capacity grew by 49% from 79 GW in 2021 to 118 GW in 2022. This growth means that an additional 36 million homes were powered by solar energy by the end of 2022. Brazil has now entered the top five positions among global solar markets and is the sole Latin American country in the top ten. The country installed 10.9 GW of solar capacity in 2022, nearly doubling its previous record of 5.5 GW set in 2021.

The rapid growth in photovoltaic solar generation presents numerous opportunities for new businesses, investments, job creation, and energy matrix renewal. However, it also brings about several technical, socioeconomic, and regulatory challenges that need to be addressed collectively to ensure solid and sustainable solutions for energy transition requirements.

The conference will feature dozens of lectures from some of the leading experts in the sector over three days. Topics will include market growth, financing options, new legal and regulatory frameworks, emerging technologies, new business opportunities for distributed generation (DG) and central generation (CG), efforts to ensure product and service safety and quality, workforce training programs, and energy storage solutions.

These discussions are crucial as they aim to provide a comprehensive understanding of the current state and future prospects of photovoltaic solar generation in Brazil. By addressing these issues collectively, stakeholders can work towards creating a more sustainable and efficient energy system for the region.
