The construction industry and steel structures market in Russia, as detailed in the 2024 Steel Construction Development Association's report, have shown promising trends despite an unstable economic environment. The report, titled "The Construction Industry and the Market for Steel Structures in the Russian Federation, EAEU Member States, and Uzbekistan," highlights a 7.6% increase in the commissioning of non-residential buildings to 38.4 million square meters compared to 2023. Additionally, individual housing construction reached a record 62.3 million square meters, contributing to the total annual housing commissioning of 107 million square meters.

According to Russia's Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin, the rise in individual housing construction is due to the popularity of private homes among Russians, favorable programs in this segment, and advancements in transport and utility infrastructure. One of the key advantages of steel construction is its ability to reduce labor costs significantly, especially relevant given the current shortage of skilled workers. Alexander Danilov, General Director of Steel Construction Development Association (ARSS), mentioned that a project for a multi-story residential building using a steel frame is undergoing state expert examination. If approved, this project could become a breakthrough in residential construction by reducing the number of specialists on-site by 25%.

The use of steel technology also offers logistical benefits. The production of basic types of construction metal products has seen growth, including steel construction metal structures and sheet metal products. There is a notable boom in the construction of logistics centers, particularly in the Far East region. Steel frames allow for a 2.5 times reduction in necessary construction materials, significantly lowering logistics costs.

SteelStructures’2025, scheduled for June 3-5 in Moscow at the Timiryazev Center, will showcase these advancements through a series of thematic events. New venues for SteelStructures’2025 and Metal-Expo'2025 will be presented by Alexey Efimov, General Director of Metal-Expo. This exhibition aims to attract both established and new exhibitors from across the Russian Federation and EAEU member states.

As part of these initiatives, MMK Trading Company is progressively implementing its development strategy with strategic meetings held in Magnitogorsk. The company's efforts have led to energy savings worth approximately RUB 1.2 billion through improved energy management systems and increased production efficiency at MMK.

These developments underscore the resilience and potential growth within Russia's construction industry and steel structures market.
