Stockholmsmässan, the largest exhibition and congress center in Northern Europe, recently held the Nordiska Trädgårder event. This prestigious gathering, with an exhibition area of 70,000 square kilometers, attracts a significant number of exhibitors and visitors. The event featured various categories, including gardening and horticulture.

Among the highlights of this year's event was the announcement of the "Best Pelargonium" award for 2025. The chosen pelargonium was the Summer Twist Rose from the Stjärnpelargon (Summer Twist Series). This unique pelargonium variety has a star-shaped appearance with coral and pink tones. Its distinctive features include five sharp leaflets forming a star shape, decorative red stamens and pistils, and a broad and airy growth habit with beautifully shaped leaves.

The juror's motivation for selecting Summer Twist Rose emphasized its combination of simplicity and wildness. The warm, unique colors and forms of the flowers captivate both up close and from a distance. This pelargonium not only harmonizes with various current trends but also serves as a living centerpiece in both modern and rural settings.

The Summer Twist Rose was developed through selective breeding in Australia in the 1950s and 1960s. Breeders like Ted Both played a crucial role in creating this distinctive pelargonium variety. The Stjärnpelargon has since spread to other countries, particularly in Britain, where it gained popularity among garden enthusiasts and collectors. The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) contributed to its recognition by including it in their exhibitions.

Stockholmsmässan continues to be a significant venue for industry leaders to organize leading trade fairs and national as well as international conferences. The exhibition center is certified according to ISO 20121 for sustainable events.
