Mouser Electronics, the New Product Introduction (NPI) leader, has once again become a Platinum sponsor of the Create the Future Design Contest, a global challenge for engineers and innovators. This competition, which has been running for over a decade, invites participants to design innovative products that benefit society and the economy. The contest is organized by SAE Media Group and Tech Briefs magazine, with additional support from manufacturers such as Intel and Analog Devices.
The Create the Future Design Contest opened on March 3, 2025, and will close on July 1, 2025. The grand prize winner will receive worldwide recognition and a cash prize of $25,000. Previous contests have garnered more than 15,000 design ideas from engineers, entrepreneurs, and students across over 100 countries. Mouser's Kevin Hess emphasized the company's commitment to fostering technical innovation: "Fostering technical innovation has always been a major part of our mission at Mouser."
The contest focuses on product designs that enhance humanity, improve healthcare quality, or provide sustainable solutions. Previous grand prize-winning entries include self-destroying plastics, a self-contained organ and limb transport device, and an economical screening device to prevent food-borne illness. The competition is divided into seven categories: Aerospace and Defense, Automotive/Transportation, Electronics, Manufacturing and Materials, Medical, Robotics and Automation, and Energy, Power & Propulsion.
