In the heart of Dordogne and Périgord, the region is witnessing a cultural and economic revival through the promotion of traditional crafts. The Pôle des Métiers d’Art, based in Nontron, is at the forefront of this initiative, aiming to support local development in culture, economy, and tourism.
From March 29 to April 5, the exhibition "La Crotz Daus Chамins - À la Croisée des Chemins" showcased the work of nine artists from the Pôle des Métiers d’Art. This exhibition highlighted the theme of itinerancy, celebrating the diverse talents of local artisans. The event was part of a larger initiative known as Grande Boucle du Parc, which aims to promote cultural activities across various locations within the Périgord-Limousin Regional Natural Park.
The Pôle des Métiers d’Art not only organizes exhibitions but also offers educational programs for schools. These include guided tours, artist workshops, and educational materials designed to engage young minds with traditional crafts. Additionally, the organization maintains an online directory featuring workshops and artists from Nontron and the surrounding areas.
Located at 3 avenue du Général Leclerc in Nontron, the Pôle des Métiers d’Art is a hub for both visitors and professionals. It serves as a meeting point for artisans from various disciplines, fostering collaboration and innovation. Despite being temporarily closed for restoration work on the Chateau, plans are underway to enhance visitor experiences upon reopening.
Through these initiatives, the Pôle des Métiers d’Art continues to play a crucial role in preserving and promoting traditional crafts in Nontron and beyond. By engaging both local communities and tourists alike, it contributes significantly to the cultural landscape of Dordogne and Périgord.
