From April 25 to 27, 2025, Brno will once again host the 17th International Textile Exhibition, Brno Patchwork Meeting. This event is not only the largest textile exhibition in Central and Eastern Europe but also a significant showcase of combined textile techniques. The exhibition is expected to feature more than 700 quilts, many of which will be in a world premiere, making it a must-visit for textile enthusiasts.
The exhibition will take place in the historic Hall A1 of the Brno Exhibition Center, with nearly 30 galleries of individual artists and artistic groups participating. Visitors can expect a variety of techniques on display, from classic patchwork to modern wall hangings and original quilts. The event is particularly notable for its high number of exhibits and the attendance of thousands of visitors, ranking fourth in Europe and continuously improving its level each year.
In addition to the main exhibition, there will be workshops for both beginners and advanced students. These courses are guided by renowned domestic and foreign textile lecturers and offer participants the opportunity to try out different patchwork and quilt techniques, as well as popular macramé courses or even sewing children's clothes. Furthermore, there will be competitions for quilts in three categories: IN THE CIRCLE, FOUR PATCH, and CZECH AND INTERNATIONAL QUILT. The quilts entered in these competitions will be judged by an expert jury.
The exhibition is also linked to charity efforts. In 2024, members of the Bohemia Patchwork Club donated 50 autumn-themed cushions to St. Elizabeth's Hospice directly at the exhibition. Additionally, the Debra Charity Bazaar was held for the first time, organized by Corpus Delicious, with proceeds going to the Debra organization.
The artistic director of the exhibition is Mrs. Jana Štěrbová, whose modern wall quilts are known both in the Czech Republic and abroad. She is a member of BPK (Bohemian-Polish Quilt Association), SAQA (Studio Art Quilt Associates), and Patchwork Gilde Deutschland.
