Indonesia, with its population of over 278 million, is the largest economy in ASEAN and one of the five largest consumer electronics markets globally. The electronics industry has been experiencing rapid growth, with domestic sales typically increasing by around 11% annually. This growth is attributed to the relocation of electronics manufacturing from Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, and Singapore to Southeast Asian countries, including Indonesia. This shift was primarily driven by currency appreciation in these countries and the encouragement of electronics manufacturing in Southeast Asian nations.
The electronics industry plays a crucial role in Indonesia's digital transformation efforts as part of the Making Indonesia 4.0 roadmap. Investment in this sector increased by 7.8% from January to September 2021, reaching Rp 59.4 trillion ($4 billion). Exports also saw significant growth, with a 98% increase year-on-year to US$1.8 billion or Rp 25.9 trillion. By July 2022, electronics exports reached US$9.4 billion or Rp144.2 trillion, marking an 18.9% increase compared to the previous year.
The upcoming INATRONICS 2025 exhibition at JIExpo Kemayoran in Jakarta will showcase the vibrant landscape of the Indonesian electronics market. The event is expected to attract approximately 800 exhibitors and over 25,000 trade visitors across a vast area of 20,000 square meters. This mega exhibition will feature a diverse range of subsectors within the electronics industry, from semiconductors to consumer electronics.
According to Mr. Alex Tan from MTSC Innovation Sdn Bhd, "Indonesia is a good market for industry because we are seeing lots of growing opportunities in this country." The exhibition offers numerous networking opportunities and potential customer contacts for exhibitors and visitors alike.
Organized by GEM Indonesia under the INATRONICS division, this event promises to be a significant milestone in showcasing Indonesia's electronics industry's potential and achievements.
