Martin März from fairtrade stated that with $161 million in packaging technology imports in 2023—making Algeria the second-largest importer in Africa after South Africa—there is significant potential for growth. Sabine Geldermann from drupa highlighted that according to VDMA data: "Algeria's imports of printing and paper technology rose to $95 million in 2023 from $57 million in 2016," making it the third-largest importer in Africa after South Africa and Egypt.
