The SMTconnect, a significant international trade fair for electronics manufacturing, will be discontinued as of 2025. This decision was made by Mesago Messe Frankfurt, the organizer of the event. Petra Haarburger, President at Mesago Messe Frankfurt, explained that while the SMTconnect has been a successful platform for experts in microelectronics over the past 35 years, it has not been able to meet the changing needs of the trade community in recent years.

The first SMTconnect took place in 1987 in Stuttgart, Germany. Over the decades, it served as a crucial platform for decision-makers and industry experts to exchange knowledge and experience. The event covered all areas of electronics manufacturing and supported the development of innovative technology throughout the entire manufacturing process.

Petra Haarburger further stated that while they remain closely connected to the industry, another technology trade fair, PCIM Expo & Conference, offers an alternative platform for exchange in the field of power electronics. This move reflects Mesago Messe Frankfurt's commitment to adapting to the evolving needs of their community.

Despite this decision, Mesago Messe Frankfurt expressed gratitude to their exhibitors, visitors, and partners for their loyalty over the years. The organization will continue to support innovation and knowledge exchange in the electronics manufacturing sector through other platforms.
