On a related note, a new cargo terminal has been inaugurated at Tashkent International Airport. This new facility, capable of handling up to 120,000 tons of cargo annually, is four times larger than its predecessor. The new complex features modern equipment and specialized storage areas designed to meet the diverse needs of cargo storage. According to Uzbekistan Airports Cargo, this modernization project was initiated due to the increasing demand for cargo handling at Tashkent airport. The new terminal will significantly enhance the airport's capacity and efficiency in managing cargo operations.
The new cargo terminal includes a warehouse area of 8,500 square meters, with specialized sections for refrigeration and freezing chambers. It also has designated areas for storing plants, live animals, valuable goods, food, and medicine. All premises are equipped with temperature sensors for precise temperature control. Nazim Shaimardanov, Director of UzCargo, highlighted that the modern equipment installed in the warehouse includes racking systems, lifting mechanisms, packaging equipment, accounting systems, automation systems, and security systems.
The inauguration of this new cargo terminal aligns well with the objectives of "Transport and Logistics – TransLogistica Uzbekistan 2025," as it underscores Uzbekistan's commitment to improving its infrastructure in support of international trade and logistics operations.
