The Social Hub has taken a significant step in its European expansion by opening its fourth Italian hotel in Rome's trendy San Lorenzo district. The new complex, part of a €114 million regeneration project, transforms a disused railway customs house into a vibrant hub that includes a four-star hotel, coworking spaces, restaurants, and more. The 24,000 square metre development is strategically located near Rome’s main train station and iconic landmarks, bringing new life to the area.
The Social Hub Rome is designed to foster community and social impact. It comprises three interconnected buildings: a modern 396-room hotel with apartments up to two bedrooms and a fully equipped 24/7 gym; an event venue that was once part of the original 1920s customs house; and Accademia Italiana, a design and applied arts institute. The project also features a 10,000 square metre public park with over 300 trees, set to open this summer.
Charlie MacGregor, Founder & CEO of The Social Hub, emphasizes the transformative potential of the project: "The Social Hub Rome marks the arrival of a bold development embodying urban regeneration at its best! This incredible project rethinks the way spaces, neighbourhoods, and communities interact." The hotel offers short and extended stay accommodation for travelers and students, along with vibrant meeting and event spaces that can accommodate up to 70 guests.
In addition to its hospitality offerings, The Social Hub Rome is committed to sustainability. As a Certified B Corporation, it incorporates innovative materials and systems into its development. The building is expected to obtain BREEAM certification for its high environmental standards. More than 50 local employees will be hired to provide traditional hospitality with a curated calendar of over 600 events annually.
The Social Hub also supports local talent through its TSH Talent Foundation, which provides scholarships to changemakers facing barriers to opportunity. With its diverse range of facilities—from hotel rooms to coworking spaces—The Social Hub continues to lead in the hybrid hospitality industry by creating unique communities where people can learn from one another and engage in unique experiences that inspire change.
