The SXSW Music Festival, held from March 7 to 15, 2025, featured an eclectic mix of artists from around the world, with a special highlight being Taiwan Beats. Organized by Taiwan’s Ministry of Culture, this showcase illuminated the festival with some of Taiwan’s most exciting musical talents. The event was not just a one-night showcase but included a full day of activities.
On the day before the showcase, Taiwan Beats Day Party welcomed Japanese rock band Enfants and Malaysian rapper Zamaera. Meanwhile, the TAICCA Meet Up gathered industry professionals to discuss Taiwan’s expanding global music presence. This year’s edition reaffirmed Taiwan Beats as a premier destination for groundbreaking sounds from the island.
The evening showcased featured a packed crowd and genre-blurring performances. Rising hip-hop artist HSIEN CHING opened with a hypnotic DJ set, setting the mood with her signature hushed vocals. ?te (White), known for her husky, sultry vocals that blend neo-soul, jazz, and lo-fi hip-hop, delivered a standout performance. Andr, a genre-blending indie pop and R&B artist, showcased her hazy synths and ethereal vocals. Enno Cheng returned to SXSW with a performance that highlighted her resilience and unique Taiwanese Hokkien sound. TRASH brought stadium-sized energy to the stage with their rebellious sound and seasoned star swagger. Amazing Show concluded the night with high-octane performances and self-invented instruments that defined their unique sound.
Taiwan Beats will return to SXSW in 2026 from March 12-18. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting event.
