This year's Seafood Expo North America/Seafood Processing North America, held in Boston from March 16-18, 2025, welcomed an estimated 20,000 seafood industry professionals from around the world. The event spanned 249,665 net square feet of exhibit space with 1,215 exhibiting companies from 51 countries. The conference area was bustling with activity, and the exhibit hall was filled with a variety of fresh, frozen, canned, value-added, processed, and packaged seafood products. High-volume seafood buyers such as Aldi, Amazon Fresh, Costco, Disney, Kroger, Walmart, and more were present to discover the latest product offerings and build strategic relationships.
The event featured several highlights, including the New and Featured product showcases and the Seafood Excellence Awards reception. Two products were honored as winners: Icy Waters LLC's Atlantic Salmon with a Guinness Sweet Honey Mustard Melt & Panko Crumb won the "Best New Retail Product" award, while American Unagi Inc.'s Gluten Free Eel Kabayaki Fillet took home the "Best New Foodservice Product" award. These awards recognized and celebrated the best new seafood products in the North American market.
In addition to the exhibits and special events, attendees had the opportunity to learn about new products through a variety of product demonstrations and seafood tastings. The Wave Makers' Zone hosted networking events such as the Connecting Women in Seafood reception and podcast recordings with SeafoodSource Presents. The Oyster Shucking Competition also added excitement to the event.
The conference program offered educational sessions from top industry leaders on topics such as seafood consumption trends and consumer preferences. Panels discussed data around why consumers are shopping for seafood and how behaviors have changed. Another panel focused on the economic advantages of diversifying seafood product offerings and having a diverse workforce.
Looking ahead to next year's event on March 15-17, 2026, at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center, attendees can expect another exciting gathering of seafood professionals.
