With 2025 now underway, leading manufacturer of high performance reed relays, Pickering Electronics is reflecting on 12 months of company milestones and product innovation. Despite challenging global economic conditions in 2024, Pickering achieved stable revenue and gained test & measurement market share by investing in new products and enhanced global customer support. The company's CEO, Keith Moore, commented, "This wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our customers and partners – and we are excited to continue collaborating with them in 2025 as we launch new switching products and support their test and measurement needs."
In 2025, Pickering celebrates 55 years of industry expertise, leadership, and innovation in high voltage reed relay technology. Notable milestones include the introduction of an enhanced Series 104 with impressive 5kV standoff and 1.5kV switching capabilities. The company also launched Series 144, its smallest miniature SIP reed relay with a power rating up to 80 Watts. Additionally, Pickering supercharged its Series 112, 113, 116, and 122 relays, doubling their power ratings and expanding high-spec options.
At electronica in November, Pickering unveiled Series 125, the smallest 2-pole reed relay in the world, delivering 20 Watts and 1 Amp switching while taking up a board area of just 5mm x 5mm. This milestone showcases the company's commitment to innovation in compact design.
Expanding horizons is another key focus for Pickering. The company unveiled a new office in Malaysia to better serve its expanding customer base in the region. In October, Pickering acquired Mumfords Engineering to strengthen its production capabilities further. The company’s new Centre of Excellence for high voltage switching will consolidate expertise across design, manufacturing, and test.
Technical resources for customers include the release of Semiconductor Application Guide, High Power Application Guide, Data Acquisition Application Guide, and Electric Motorsport Application Guide. These guides help customers explore relay technology in various applications.
Pickering was shortlisted as a finalist at the Elektra Electronics Industry Awards for its high power Series 144 relays. The company also showcased its reed relays at trade shows across Japan, China, India, and Germany.
Looking ahead, Pickering is busy developing exciting new relays focused on high voltage and high density applications. The company is renowned for its leadership and innovation in reed relays due to instrumentation-grade reed switches that ensure stable long life (up to billions of operations).
