On March 25, 2025, at the press center of MIA Rossiya Segodnya, the head of Rosselkhodnadzor, Sergey Dankvert, held a press conference focusing on the achievements of the previous year and plans for 2025. The conference highlighted the digital landscape of Rosselkhodnadzor and the implementation of artificial intelligence. According to Dankvert, the traceability system from field to shelf ensures product safety and quality. However, he noted that while digital systems can quickly identify unsafe products, there are currently no tools for their immediate removal from circulation.
The information services provided by Rosselkhodnadzor not only monitor veterinary but also phytosanitary products. Dankvert emphasized that the data collected by Rosselkhodnadzor is used by various regulatory bodies such as the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS), Financial Monitoring Service (Finmonitorg), Prosecutor General's Office (GPO), and Tax Service (FSN). This coordinated effort has enabled Russia to expand its export markets. Currently, Russian meat products are accessible in 110 countries. In 2024, exports of meat and meat products (including live animals converted to slaughter weight) amounted to approximately 860,000 tons. As of March 21, this year's exports have already reached 60,500 tons of pork compared to 32,300 tons in the same period last year—a nearly two-fold increase.
Dankvert also pointed out an alarming situation in Europe regarding swine fever. He noted that vaccination is not being conducted in susceptible animals due to its spread in European countries. Additionally, there are risks of disease introduction from Ukraine, where the epizootic situation is uncontrolled. In conclusion, Dankvert addressed questions related to expanding exports to Asian countries and improving traceability for fish products.
