The "FaRK", a fantasy and role-playing convention renowned far beyond the borders of Saarland, revolves around Sci-Fi, Steampunk, Cosplay, Fantasy, and Post-Apocalyptic themes. Spanning over 100,000 sqm, it creates a unique realm for enthusiasts of Sci-Fi (including all things related to science fiction like Star Wars, Star Trek), Cosplay (video game characters), and Fantasy. Since its inception in 2013, the event now attracts visitors not just from Germany, but from all over Europe. This fantasy and role-playing convention takes place at the Erlebnisort Reden in Landweiler-Reden, part of the Schiffweiler community. Erlebnisort Reden, comprising the water garden and the mining dump, is a site of a former coal mine operational until 1997. Today, the area, with its protected buildings, water garden, and dump, is used for events and recreational activities. About 1,000 parking spaces are available on-site, accessible via Bildstockstraße in Schiffweiler 66578.
